Alex is an Emmy award winning filmmaker, who is currently directing a feature length documentary starring Chelsea Handler for Netflix. She recently wrapped Shut Up & Dribble, a three part docu-series about the cultural impact the NBA has had in America over the past four decades for Showtime. As the series showrunner and writer, she had the amazing opportunity to produce the project alongside NBA legend, LeBron James. Stapleton made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film, Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel (A&E), a feature-length documentary about Roger Corman which stars Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard. The film competed at top festivals like Cannes, the New York Film Festival and Sundance. Alex’s documentary style easily translated to the world of reality and docu-series television producing hit shows like The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey (CBS) and Big Fish Texas (Nat Geo). Stapleton also directed, produced and was a correspondent on a series about progress and advances in developing countries called TakePart World (Participant Media), which was funded by the Gates Foundation. For this work she was nominated for a Webby Award and a Social Media Impact Award. In addition, she has directed award winning web campaigns for The Olympics, Rolex, Chime for Change, Elle.com, Glamour, Popular Mechanics, Cosmo.com and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Alex recently received an Emmy for her work as a correspondent/producer on Socal Connected (PBS). Originally from Houston, she now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two year old son, Beaumont.
